Lionel Messi delivered a breathtaking performance, propelling Inter Miami into their first-ever Leagues Cup final with a resounding 4-1 victory over Philadelphia Union on Tuesday.
The match saw Miami facing one of their toughest challenges since Messi’s arrival just a month ago, but Miami burst out of the gate with Josef Martinez finding the net in the third minute, converting a long ball into a precision strike.
Despite the initial jeers from the crowd as Messi and the team stepped onto the field, it was Messi’s brilliance that swiftly silenced the doubters. Just 20 minutes into the game, Messi showcased his mastery by launching an exquisite left-footed shot from 35 yards, leaving Union’s goalkeeper Andre Blake helpless as the ball nestled into the corner.

Before halftime, Jordi Alba added to Miami’s lead with a composed finish reminiscent of Messi or Martinez. Although Union fought back with Alejandro Bedoya’s goal, Miami’s David Ruiz secured their triumph with an 84th-minute goal.
Union attempted a comeback, testing Miami’s resilience, but Miami’s skill and determination prevailed, securing their place in the final.
