Mofa calls for PPP to harness agricultural growth – Citi Business News

Government is calling for a stronger public private partnership geared towards the growth of the agricultural sector.

This government believes will give the local economy a boost .

Government maintains that it has taken a cue from the twin crises of the COVID pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia to work to ensure its food security measures.

Delivering the keynote address at the MEDA Round table discussion on behalf of the Chief Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Deputy Director of the Agribusiness Unit at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Jeremy Agyemang called on the private sector to work closely with the public sector  to harness the growth of the sector.

“Recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia- Ukraine crisis coupled with persistent challenges conflict and climate change have opened our eyes across the world on the need to step up the Investment in Agriculture,” he said.

“And also to facilitate the right policies and to increasing collaboration and coordination between the public and private sectors and other international partners to accelerate agricultural growth with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable food security and creating of decent and lasting jobs to reduce poverty. The clarion call has been loud enough to awaken Africa which was long a sleep giant,” he added.
