Mohammed Kudus (wearing a black cap) watches Tottenham’s defeat from the stands alongside injured teammatesGhana winger Mohammed Kudus watched from the stands as Tottenham Hotspur suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brentford in their opening Premier League game of the season.Kudus was not fit enough to feature for Tottenham and has yet to return to competitive action following a serious quad tendon injury.The 26-year-old has not played a competitive match since January 4, 2026, when he featured for Tottenham against Sunderland before being forced off after 19 minutes with the injury.Kudus has also not been involved in Tottenhams pre-season preparations as he continues his recovery.His absence was felt as new manager Roberto De Zerbi watched his side struggle against a dominant Brentford team at the Gtech Community Stadium.Tottenham entered the new campaign having spent around 237 million in the summer, including the club-record signing of Sandro Tonali for 100 million, but they were comprehensively beaten by their London rivals.Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Vitaly Janelt doubled Brentfords advantage in the 33rd minute.Michael Kayode added a third shortly after half-time, while Brentford also missed a penalty through Igor Thiago, whose effort struck the post.Kudus will now continue his recovery as he works towards a return to action, with Tottenham hoping to have the Ghanaian available once he regains full fitness.
