Nigerian singer Mr Eazi has made a significant investment in the Cape Town Tigers, a professional basketball team in Africa.
He takes after American musician Jay Z, who owns stock in the Brooklyn Nets, a basketball team in New York City.
“I read that Jay’z got shares in a NYC basketball team! So I had to do my own to ff my mentor!!,” Mr. Eazi tweeted.
This move by Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi is a significant step in the African entertainment industry and highlights the growing interest in sports investment on the continent.
“Happy to announce I am now a shareholder of @CapeTownTigers the best basketball team in Africa from now going forward!,” he added.

Mr. Eazi has previously made investments outside the music industry. He has previously made investments in African tech startups and demonstrated a strong interest in the continent’s expanding sports and technology industries.
The Cape Town Tigers, competes in the South African Basketball League (SABL).
