The renowned man of God at the centre of the fatal accident that occurred at East Legon on October 12, Bishop Salifu Amoako has told his congregants that his son did not kill anyone intentionally.
Briefing the church about what happened on October 20, he said the incident was an accident, hence should be viewed from that perspective.
“It is an accident. my son did not carry a gun to kill somebody. He involved himself in a terrible accident and I’m not the one who did. It is because of my name that this thing is going everywhere. If this man should have engaged himself in Okada accident, who is going to mention it? It is because of me, my name, so keep quiet and let’s see what the Lord wish (sic) to do,” he urged the members of his church in a recording obtained by Accra-based Citi FM.

It is recalled that on 12th October 2024, suspect driver, Elrad Salifu Amoako, aged 16, driving a Jaguar SUV vehicle with registration number GN 7801 – 20 with one other occupant, rammed into a 4×4 Acura vehicle also with registration number GR 2542 -23, driven by Joseph Ackah with four other occupants, at Mensah Wood Street at East Legon. Both cars caught fire and burned beyond recognition.
Bishop Salifu Amoako, father of the suspect driver and his wife Mouha Amoako, were subsequently arrested and charged with ‘allowing an unlicensed person to drive a vehicle.’ He subsequently apologised through a video that has gone viral.
Meanwhile, the briefing to the congregants has been received with mixed reactions. while some think it a fair explanation of the issues, others believe he went overboard. Especially so, when the case is still under prosecution.
