Nana Akua Akuffo I, a traditional leader also known as Mamaga Princess Emmanuella Sam, is expected to appear before the Supreme Court of Ghana today in connection with an alleged vehicle auction fraud case involving millions of cedis.

The case stems from a petition filed by a group of 29 individuals led by Lionel Lawson, who accuse the traditional leader of collecting approximately GH?3.39 million under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of 38 vehicles.

According to the complainants, the arrangement was presented as an exclusive private auction deal, described as restricted and high-level to inspire confidence.

The group alleges that after making payments, the transaction failed to materialise, with repeated delays in the delivery of the vehicles and the promised refunds.

They further claim that communication with Nana Akua Akuffo I eventually broke down, heightening their concerns and prompting them to report the matter to authorities.

The petition also alleges that the accused referenced influential personalities to lend credibility to the deal, a move the complainants say convinced them to commit their funds.

Nana Akua Akuffo I’s involvement in politics—as a reported 2023 parliamentary aspirant for the Ketu North Constituency—has drawn additional public attention to the case.

She is currently in custody as investigations continue, and her court appearance is expected to provide further clarity on the allegations.
