In Ghana’s rapidly evolving real estate and construction sector, an industry long dominated by men, few women have risen with as much distinction, resilience and purpose as the Chief Executive Officer of LB Group, Nana Akua Maafo-Dosoo.
A luxury real estate curator, sustainability advocate and visionary entrepreneur, she represents a new generation of African business leaders redefining success, not merely in terms of profit; but in purpose, impact and legacy.
As the leader of LB Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in luxury real estate, construction and development, facility management, agribusiness, publishing and printing, she has built a reputation for combining business excellence with social responsibility. Yet, beyond her impressive corporate achievements lies a deeply rooted personal philosophy: that business must serve humanity and honour God.
Her journey is one marked by faith, courage and an unwavering commitment to sustainable development; one that has positioned her as one of Ghana’s most compelling voices in green housing, community transformation and mission-driven leadership.
A foundation built on faith and public service
For Nana Akua, sustainability is not simply a global development trend; it is a spiritual mandate.
Her passion for advocacy and sustainable development stems largely from her Christian faith and a belief that humanity has a divine responsibility to safeguard creation. She describes her leadership philosophy as “Business as Mission”, a conviction that enterprises must influence positive change, touch lives and leave the world better for future generations.

“I firmly believe that God expects us to safeguard His creation, so that our work blesses the land we leave for our children. Our work must also bless our people.”
This worldview was shaped not only by faith but also by her upbringing in a family of statesmen, where she witnessed firsthand the environmental challenges and social inequalities affecting underserved communities. Exposure to disparities in access to safe housing, clean water and economic opportunity helped shape her belief that development must be inclusive, and that responsibility for national transformation lies not only with politicians, but also with business leaders.
That belief has become the driving force behind her life’s work.
From banking professional to real estate trailblazer
Before founding LB Group, Nana Akua built a successful career in banking, equipping her with strong financial and strategic expertise that would later become foundational to her entrepreneurial journey.
In 2011, she established Listening Bureau, the flagship company under LB Group, initially as a real estate brokerage firm. Under her leadership, it has grown into one of Ghana’s most trusted luxury real estate and facility management companies.
Over the past decade, Listening Bureau has evolved from a boutique brokerage into a full-service facility management company serving prestigious clients, including the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Headquarters (City Hall), Global Haulage Office Complex and numerous premium commercial properties across Accra.
Among her notable achievements is her role in the development and commercialisation of Chain Homes at Airport Valley, a 102-unit luxury residential project. Her strategic leadership helped secure Listening Bureau’s position as the project’s exclusive sales agent and contributed to Chain Homes being recognised as the Best Residential Developer (Upper Income Luxury Category) at the Ghana Property Awards 2017.
Her company was also adjudged the Most Trusted Luxury Real Estate Broker of the Year at the Ghana Property Awards 2023, affirming her reputation for client-centred excellence and innovation.
Redefining sustainable housing
While Nana Akua’s corporate accomplishments are remarkable, it is her commitment to sustainability that truly distinguishes her. In an industry often driven by speed and profit, she has become an outspoken advocate for environmentally responsible construction and long-term thinking. She acknowledges that one of the greatest challenges in promoting sustainable housing is overcoming perceptions around cost.
“Eco-friendly construction is often seen as expensive. Solar energy, rain harvesting systems, non-toxic paints, sustainable landscaping, all require higher initial investment. But the long-term benefits are immense.”
Her philosophy challenges both institutions and individuals to think beyond immediate expenses and toward lasting impact. She advocates for energy-efficient building designs, green construction materials, rainwater harvesting systems, solar-powered infrastructure, waste separation and recycling practices as well as tree preservation and horticultural integration in development projects
For her, sustainability extends beyond architecture. It is about creating environments that improve quality of life, mental well-being and ecological resilience.
“Even preserving trees on a construction site instead of replacing everything with concrete improves air quality and reduces mental stress. Sustainability is practical. It is human.”

The Appiatse Reconstruction project: Restoring hope through green innovation
Perhaps the most defining project of Nana Akua’s sustainability journey is her involvement in the Appiatse Reconstruction Project, one of Ghana’s most significant post-disaster rebuilding initiatives.
Following the devastating explosion that displaced hundreds of residents in Appiatse, Nana Akua played a key role in helping rebuild homes and restore community dignity through sustainable construction practices. What made the project exceptional was its emphasis on local, environmentally conscious solutions.
Clay bricks used in construction were sourced directly from the community, reducing environmental impact while stimulating local economic activity. The cooling properties of the bricks also meant homes were naturally energy-efficient, minimising the need for air conditioning. For Nana Akua, the project represented far more than physical reconstruction.
“Beyond rebuilding homes, we restored dignity, hope and a sense of community for families who had lost everything.”
Leading with impact beyond business
Nana Akua’s commitment to social transformation extends well beyond real estate. Under LB Group’s corporate social responsibility framework, she has championed grassroots interventions aimed at improving lives in underserved communities across Ghana. These include access to clean water projects, women’s empowerment initiatives, agricultural sustainability engagement and community development programmes.
Education, expertise and professional excellence
Nana Akua combines purpose with technical competence. Her academic and professional credentials include: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance; Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Psychology, University of Ghana; Member, International Facility Management Association (IFMA); and Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification.
As a woman leading in one of Ghana’s most male-dominated sectors, Nana Akua has become an inspiration for aspiring female professionals.
Her message to women is both empowering and practical: “Competence, consistency and purpose will always create room for you, even in traditionally male-dominated spaces.”
A vision for Ghana’s sustainable future
Looking ahead, Nana Akua envisions a Ghana where sustainability becomes embedded in every level of governance and enterprise.
Her dream is not merely to build luxury homes but to help build sustainable communities and a more equitable Ghana.
A leader guided by faith
At the heart of Nana Akua Maafo-Dosoo’s journey is a profound sense of divine purpose.
She describes her recent honours not as personal triumphs, but as God’s affirmation.
