The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of dismantling a robust economy that the NDC left behind.

He asserted that the previous NDC administration had established a solid economic foundation, including two oil fields and a thriving manufacturing sector.

Addressing supporters at the launch of the NDC’s 2024 manifesto on Saturday, August 24, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Auditorium of the University of Education, Winneba, the General Secretary criticized the NPP for allegedly destroying these achievements and then claiming they inherited a failing economy.

“When you say ‘one village, one dam’, and you know you do not have the capacity, that is deception,” he said.

He highlighted the NDC’s previous successes, noting, “We left behind a strong manufacturing sector, two oil fields, and a vibrant cocoa sector.”

National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi echoed these sentiments, asserting that the NDC has an unrivalled track record that Ghanaians have been misled about.

Gyamfi emphasized that the current administration has squandered the country’s assets. “The NDC has unmatched track records,” he stressed.

Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza outlined that the 2024 NDC manifesto would address critical issues such as corruption, state capture, and job creation.

He criticized the NPP for handling these issues and emphasized that the manifesto aims to resolve the problems the NPP has allegedly created. “The manifesto will focus on corruption, state capture, and job creation,” Agbodza told TV3.

NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, members of the National Executive Committee, the Council of Elders, Members of Parliament, and Parliamentary Candidates attended the manifesto launch event.

Distinguished guests from the Diplomatic Corps, Clergy, Civil Society Organizations, Academia, Labour Organizations, and the Creative Arts were also present.

The event featured speeches on the NDC’s vision for transforming Ghana and the party’s plans for the future.
