The NDC Professionals Forum has formally petitioned Ghana’s Electoral Commission, urging an investigation into claims of illegal voter transfers to incorrect polling stations.
The call follows allegations that a teacher in Tamale has been manipulating voter assignments to provide them with Arabian support, which has sparked significant concern from the opposition party.
In their petition, the forum requested that the Electoral Commission thoroughly investigate these allegations, rectify any errors, and restore affected voters to their original polling stations.
They also called for measures to ensure the security and integrity of electoral equipment and processes.
Below is the full statement signed by Sam Pee Yalley of the Proforum.
Accra, Ghana –
The NDC Professionals Forum, a group of concerned citizens, hereby petition the Electoral Commission to investigate and correct the alleged illegal transfer of voters to incorrect polling stations.
During the recent Voter Exhibition, some citizens reported finding their names at polling stations other than their own, sparking widespread concern and outrage. This blatant disregard for the electoral process threatens the very foundation of our democracy.
We demand that the Electoral Commission take immediate action to:
– Investigate these allegations thoroughly
– Correct the errors and restore affected voters to their correct polling stations
– Ensure the security and integrity of electoral equipment and processes
We call on all Ghanaians to join us in demanding transparency, accountability, and free and fair elections.
