Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie has pledged to lead Ghana a football administration devoid of nepotism, cronyism, vindictiveness and disunity as he announced his intention to contest for the Presidential seat in 2023.

The 54-year-old announced his candidacy for the elections on Sunday in an impressive public announcement which went viral on all media platforms with Ghana’s leading television outlet – GTV Sports+ picking the announcement live.

Afriyie pledged: “I will ensure that the GFA operates with the highest level of professionalism and competence devoid of nepotism, cronyism, vindictiveness and disunity. Many aspects of our game today have fallen short of expectations.”

Many within Ghana’s football fraternity believe Kurt Okraku, the incumbent President, has been running an administration of family friends.

During the first year of his tenure, Kurt Okraku boldly stated on Accra-based Joy FM that he won’t be able to work with his opponents following calls for him to run an all-inclusive administration.
