Northshore Apparel GH Ltd., a regenerative and zero-waste apparel manufacturing company based in Savelugu, has secured certification from Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), strengthening its position as an ethical and export-ready manufacturer within the global apparel industry.
The certification, awarded following an independent audit of the company’s production operations in the Northern Region, recognises compliance with internationally accepted standards for ethical and socially responsible manufacturing in the apparel, footwear and sewn-products sectors.
The achievement is expected to enhance the company’s attractiveness to international brands, sourcing firms and development partners by providing assurance that its products are manufactured under independently verified labour, safety and environmental standards.
Northshore Apparel said the certification aligns with government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda by supporting industrial growth, job creation and export expansion. With the potential to employ up to 10,000 workers, the company aims to become a major source of employment in northern Ghana, particularly for young people, women and persons with disabilities, including members of the deaf community.
Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Nurideen described the certification as a significant milestone for the company and the country’s manufacturing sector.
“This certification is independent confirmation of what our people deliver every day. It tells the world that garments made in Savelugu are produced responsibly, ethically and to globally competitive standards,” he said.
According to him, the recognition will support efforts to expand exports, strengthen responsible supply chains and attract new partnerships, while promoting social inclusion, worker welfare and occupational safety.
He added that with the right policy support and market partnerships, the company could contribute to round-the-clock production, increased export earnings and broader economic activity under the government’s industrialisation agenda.
The certification also reinforces the growing reputation of northern Ghana as a destination for globally competitive manufacturing, demonstrating the region’s capacity to host export-oriented industries that meet international standards.
