The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has candidly stated the determination of the party to break the eight and win a historical third term in the political history of Ghana since the beginning of the Fourth Republic.
In a crunch meeting ahead of the Party’s Presidential Primaries, the Chairman, Mr. Ntim, addressed party members and executives with all candidates present. In his address, he mentioned that the development of Ghana depends on an NPP victory in the 2024 general elections, and that victory begins this Saturday, November 4, and every member of this Party has something significant to do with it. He emphasised the need for members to remain disciplined and promote internal peace in order for such feats to be attained.
“We are determined to win a third term because the development of Ghana depends on an NPP victory in the 2024 general elections. That victory begins this Saturday, and every member of this Party has something significant to do with it. It requires that we are disciplined as a party”, he said.
According to him, the party, while heading towards the democratic selection of their Flagbearer is experiencing events that marred their victory in the 2008 general election. He noted that the party gave the NDC the elections in 2008 because their people did not come out to vote in the first round, and some of the factors that led to their loss in the election in 2008 were rearing their ugly heads.
He touted the NPP as the only political Party in Ghana that wields what it takes to regenerate the economy from the ruins of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War that threw the entire global economy out of balance. He said that since the 2024 election will be decided primarily on the grounds of the economy, the NPP is the right party for that victory.
“The 2024 general elections will be fought on many fronts, especially the economy. But we know we will win the battle of the economy because our capacity, commitment, and record show that we have what it takes to regenerate the economy from the ruins of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War that threw the entire global economy out of balance,” he added.
He further called for internal peace and cohesion within the ranks and file of the party. He cautioned individuals and groups who have favourites among the candidates to ensure that unity is maintained before and after the election. He urged members and party sympathisers to stay committed and work closely with whoever emerges victorious at the end of the contest.
