On September 21, 22, and 23, 2023, Ghana experienced one of its largest demonstrations ever.
Dubbed #OccupyJulorbiHouse, the demonstration, organised by the pressure group Democracy Hub was to protest against the high cost of living, leadership failure in resolving economic challenges, poor road infrastructure (#FixTheMotorWay), galamsey, corruption and greed.
The demonstration was attended by a large number of citizens, including celebrities such as E.L., Efia Odo, M.anifest, Kelvyn Boy, John Dumelo, Efia, Stonebowy, Pappy Kojo, and D-Black.
Speaking to Citi News during day 3 of the demonstrations, D-Black promulgated that the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] government has failed the youth.
“We are not seeing what the government promised us…The government is not speaking to us… We are rather speaking to the government…Nothing is working…The current government has failed the Youth”.
D-Black made it clear that he participated in the protest as a concerned Ghanaian citizen and not as a celebrity. He then called on the government to take action to address the country’s problems.
