The Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC) and a leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea says the party’s upcoming primaries will not be an easy contest for the candidates.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” programme, the STC boss stated emphatically that the primaries will be very tight.
He explained that the primaries, which come off on Saturday, January 27th, is unlike their previous primaries in orphan constituencies.
These primaries, he noted, will be held in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament of the party.
“The idea is that there are some constituencies where, once you win the primaries, you are already in Parliament. So, it will be tight,” he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.
Expounding on the NPP parliamentary primaries, Nana Akomea pleaded with those in charge to ensure a free and fair process to avoid conflicts.
“I pray that process will be fair, because if we don’t make the process fair and someone feels cheated and decides to go independent, it will disturb us,” he requested.
He also advised both the delegates and candidates to refrain from the use of foul language and financial inducements prior to and during the elections.
