Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo has expressed confidence in his party’s chances in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections saying he is happy with the number he picked referring to it as his magic number.
Speaking in an interview on GTV Breakfast Show, Akpaloo stated, “The NDC knows within themselves that the number 8 is not good for them.” He said this in response to the rumours that he swapped the number he picked with other party leaders.
He also emphasized that number 5 holds special significance for him, saying, “For me, number 5 is the magic number” stressing that who wouldn’t want the top number since people suggested that he initially picked number 1 during the balloting but later swapped it with the NPP.
Akpaloo boldly declared, “I will win this year’s election” and outlined his vision for Ghana’s future. Key campaign promises he mentioned were establishing a job fund, transforming Ghana into a land of opportunities, and providing necessary funding for the youth.
He also addressed the issue of galamsey, proposing to bring together small-scale miners to venture into large-scale mining.
On the economy, Akpaloo asserted, “Our problem in Africa is that we don’t build capital”. He emphasized that wealth extends beyond cash, and upon becoming president, he plans to re-arrange the country’s debts.
Akpaloo’s commitment to social welfare was evident when he said, “My party will pay every person who is not working.” Additionally, he demonstrated support for women’s empowerment by choosing a female running mate.
As the December 7 elections approach, Akpaloo’s message is clear: he is confident in his chances.
