Renowned Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, Eno Barony, recently shared a touching chapter from her life, highlighting the instrumental support she received from Obour, the former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), during a challenging financial period.
In a sincere conversation with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, the ‘Heavy Load’ rapper recounted the remarkable story of how Obour, a fellow musician, came to her rescue when she was grappling with financial difficulties.
Eno recounted a time in her life when she was financially strained, and out of the blue, the ‘Killing the Game’ artist called her one morning and requested her presence at the East Legon Police Station. Upon arrival, she discovered that Obour had invited her to the East Legon Executive Club to deliver a freestyle performance at Osei Kuffour’s birthday party.
“God richly bless Obour. He called me one day to bring along my songs on a CD to the East Legon Police station. I got there, and I was told they were having an argument about my freestyle, so I was asked to perform. I took a microphone; it was Osei Kuffour’s birthday. As I performed, they showered me with money, but I couldn’t take any of it,” she shared.
Eno went on to reveal that the event’s MC collected all the money showered on her during the performance and pocketed it. Obour intervened, instructing the MC to return the money to Eno as it rightfully belonged to her, and he had only given her a portion. As she exited, club members generously contributed more money to her.
“On my way out, I decided to greet Despite and some attendees. As we shook hands, they added wads of money to the handshake. When I got home, I looked like a pastor who had received an offering in church. Upon opening the wads of money, I found Euros, Dollars, and Cedis. God bless Obour,” she expressed.
