Budding Ghanaian Afropop artiste, Vanilla has waded into the feud between legendary sound engineer Appiah Dankwah popularly known as Appietus and defunct music group 5Five .
The feud started when Appietus in an interview on Citi TV’s ‘Upside Down’ show on Sunday, January 15,2023, alleged that he was not paid for producing 5Five’s biggest hit ‘Muje Baya’ in 2010.
“After recording the song, they told me they were going to show it to an investor, the next moment I heard the song playing on the radio, they lied to me”.He alleged.
The multiple award-winning music producer made another untrained revelation that he started earning dollars after a white man put his songs – that include 5Five’s ‘Muje Baya’ hit song – on digital platforms following an agreement.
According to Appietus, he started receiving a huge sum of money a few months after uploading the songs on the digital platforms.
Reacting to Appietus’ allegation, Papi accused the legendary producer of ripping them off by putting their song on digital platforms and hijacking revenue.
The renowned sound engineer later joined the conversation via phone and things went south on the show. Furious Papi hurld unprintable insults at Appietus:
“You are very stupid and dumb…You are very stupid…Appietus your whole career, your whole life, Muje Baya made you. All your songs, which one made you?”
Appietus equally lost his cool and said “can you imagine, I have done over 200 hits, just imagine how Papi is on TV disrespecting me. I am so hurt I will drag Papi to court.”
Sharing his view on the matter in a one-on-one interview with Ekow Koomson on Ghanaweekend TV, Vanilla ,who is on Bullhaus Entertainment label with Papi said even though his label mate was defending himself, he went overboard with the kind of insults he hurled at Appietus.
The “Laala” hitmaker emphasized that he doesn’t ascribe to violence and “Appietus is a legend in the Music industry so under no circumstance Papi should’ve disrespected him like that..no ,no”.
Vanilla is currently out with a song dubbed ‘Ewo”
