The Ministry of Education pledged that by the end of October 2026, concerns raised by teachers regarding arrears due them will be dealt with. In line with that pledge, Government has announced that, per the agreement reached with the teacher unions at the last engagement, payment of promotion-related salary adjustments and arrears has been made to 56,003 teachers of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Validation of the remaining 23,367 teachers is continuing. When that is done, the Controller and Accountant-General Department will honour the payment by the end of October to fully resolve the issue regarding promotion arrears due teachers.

The Ministry assures teachers and the public of its continued engagement with the relevant institutions to ensure the timely processing and payment of outstanding entitlements.

The Ministry’s collaboration with leadership of the teacher unions, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department helped resolve the concerns of teachers.
