President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day working visit to the Volta Region as part of his #ResettingGhana Tour, aimed at engaging citizens and assessing ongoing development projects in the region.
The President’s tour will commence at Juapong, where he is expected to cut the sod for the construction of 18 24-hour Economy Model Markets across all districts in the Volta Region.
The initiative forms part of government’s 24-hour economy policy, which seeks to promote continuous economic activity and create more opportunities for businesses and workers.
During the tour, President Mahama will visit the Peki College of Education (GOVCO) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Sokode.
He is also scheduled to inspect ongoing works on the Asikuma–Ho road being executed under the Big Push Programme and inaugurate a District Police Headquarters for the Akatsi North District.
The President, who is expected to be accompanied by Ministers of State, heads of institutions and Members of Parliament, will also hold an educational durbar on the government’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme.
On Friday, President Mahama will engage chiefs and residents of the Volta Region at a town hall meeting to be held at the Ho Technical University.
The meeting is expected to provide a platform for residents to offer feedback on government policies, development projects and interventions being implemented in the region.
President Mahama is also expected to visit the Ho Sports Stadium to assess the condition of the facility and receive first-hand updates on its current state.
Live updates from the President’s tour will be available on all platforms of The1957News.
