Mohammed Salisu and Alidu Seidu were sent off in Ghana’s draw against Uganda on Tuesday in Morocco.

Ghana ended the friendly against Uganda with nine men after Mohammed Salisu and Alidu Seidu were sent off.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw but both players saw red for dissent towards the referee.

Seidu asked the referee to show a yellow card to a Uganda player who had just brought Tariq Lamptey down in the game’s final minute.

The Rennes defender kept confronting the referee, demanding that the card be shown even after the whistle had gone for the free kick to be played.

In the end, the 23-year-old was shown a red card for his persistence. After the final whistle, Seidu still appeared incensed as he continued to protest to the officials. It required the intervention of team manager Ameenu Shadow for Seidu to leave the pitch.

Salisu was also shown a red card in what was a dramatic ending to the game after appearing to have also uttered some words to the referee.

The Monaco player walked off to the bench before heading to the dressing room.
The two sending-offs in the match against Uganda means Ghana picked up three red cards in the March international window.

Jerome Opoku, who scored Ghana’s opener against the Cranes, was also shown a red card for dissent in the friendly against Nigeria.

One of the requirements for Ghana’s new coach was a leader figure who is a disciplinarian. In Otto Addo’s first two games, three red cards don’t make for pleasant viewing. It is one of the areas the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach will have to focus on in the next few months.
