Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie has weighed in on conversations surrounding artistes delaying performances because of low early turnout at events.
Sharing his experience from his debut show at the Indigo at The O2 in the UK, Sarkodie revealed that although the 2,700 to 2,800-capacity auditorium was sold out, only about 300 people were inside when he arrived to perform.
The rapper explained that members of his team advised him to hold on for more fans to fill the venue before going on stage. However, Sarkodie said he chose to perform regardless of the numbers present at the time.

“My first O2 Indigo was same,” he wrote on X. “Got to my ‘sold out’ show with just about 300 people in the auditorium.” He added, “My people insisted we wait a bit. I said no, even if it’s 30 people I wanna go.” Sarkodie further pointed out that venues abroad run on strict schedules, noting that “your lights goes off in the middle of your show when time is up.”
