Members of Sheik Umaru Islamic Old Students Association (SUIOSA) have handed over a refurbished three (3)-unit kindergarten block to its alma mater (Sheik Umaru Islamic Basic School complex) in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti region.

The refurbished 3-unit KG block is said to aid and provide a serene atmosphere for teaching and learning in the school.

Speaking at a handing-over ceremony, the Chairman of the Old Students Association, Mr. Saminu Sualey, said the association is a budding group that is formed basically to contribute immensely to the development of education in the Krachi West Municipality and by extension, Sheikh Umaru Islamic Basic School complex.

He explained that the association after its inception decided to take the first step in its development agenda, which was to renovate and refurbish the deplorable kindergarten block of the Sheikh Umaru Islamic Basic School complex.

The chairman added that the kindergarten block was considered for renovation due to the significant role it plays in the building up of the very foundation of an individual’s educational career.

“KG serves as the bedrock of every educational instruction. It is therefore not a misplaced priority to renovate and refurbish it so as to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge by our young ones,” he reiterated.

The old students, therefore, entreated the school management board, staff, and all stakeholders to take good care of the block for its sustainability so as to achieve the purpose for which it was renovated.

Mr. Sualey hinted that the association would not relent in its effort to continue with its development agenda toward the upliftment of Sheikh Umaru Islamic Basic School.

“The Association is poised to take another project within the shortest possible time and it is our prayer God will grant us the needed financial and physical strength to accomplish the things we have planned for the development of our Alma matter,” he added.

Mr. Sualey, is, however, appealing to other sister associations to emulate the noble initiative and do more to support their schools in the Municipality.

On his part, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Alhassan Hallah hailed the effort of the old Students after the refurbished KG block was handed over to the school management.

According to him, the school is without electricity, or furniture and lacks adequate classroom blocks.

He has, therefore, appealed to the Municipal Director of Education to put in more effort to help solve some of the problems.

Mr. Hallah also called on other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school.
