The Supreme Court has set Thursday, October 31, to continue with the hearing of applications by broadcast journalist Richard Dela-Sky and Gender activist Dr Amanda Odoi against the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill popularly referred to as the anti-gay bill.

The journalist cum private legal practitioner is challenging the constitutionality of the anti-LGBTQ bill whereas Dr Odoi has filed an injunction against the Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney-General.

She is seeking an order restraining the Speaker, Attorney-General and Clerk of Parliament from sending the passed bill to President Akufo-Addo for assenting.

At the last adjourned date, lawyers for the Speaker of Parliament were ordered to file their disclosures within 7 days after they admitted that their failure to do so had caused delays in the hearing of the case.

Hearing of the case has been characterized by delays since July with proponents of the anti-LGBTQ Bill blaming the Judiciary, organising a demonstration to register their displeasure and calling for the suits to be expedited.
