The commemorative event for the 61st Anniversary of the passing of American sociologist Dr. W.E.B Du Bois was held on Wednesday, August 27, 2024, at the Du Bois Centre in Accra.
The event was attended by dignitaries and celebrities including the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Virginia E.Palmer, the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Egyapa Mercer, rap icon E.L, Akofa Ejeani Aseidu and the CEO of National Film Authority Juliet Asante.
One of the moments that characterized the event was how the U.S. ambassador met E.L. The sharp lenses of GhanaWeekend captured them exchanging pleasantries. The ambassador was ecstatic when she spotted the rap icon who was wearing brown attire and a black cap.
Known in real life as Elom Adablah, E.L. won the ‘Artiste Of The Year’ at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards – now Telecel Ghana Music Awards. The ‘Koko’ rapper is currently out with his album BAR 7.
