Using Local Languages In Parliament: The SEER Lauds Speaker Bagbin

The Founder and Leader of Parliament Chapel International (PCI), Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah has commended the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for instructing the committees on education, finance, culture, and tourism to investigate the factors contributing to the apparent decline of local languages in the country and to propose suitable recommendations.

He also lauded the Speaker for taking steps to ensure that Members of Parliament (MPs) make their remarks in their local dialects.

Speaking on Angel Fm’s Morning Show today, Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah the directive by the Speaker is in order although long overdue.
According to him, Ghana’s current official language – the English language is another man’s language, saying; “no society develops with the language of another society”.

Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah popularly called the SEER, described Alban Bagbin as a “Solid Man” for gathering the courage to propose that for Parliamentarians.

He said, language has become a major challenge in Ghana, and we must get our language right as a country.

Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah averred that no country can develop with the language and culture of other nations.

He quoted from the Bible; Daniel: 1:3 “Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles, young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans. And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king. Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.”

He said, when people want to destroy you and your nation, they first change your identity by changing your language, your food and your name, as was done to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

However, he said “2024, every nation must go back. You are what you eat, you are what you see and you are what you say; and when these things; your food, language and name are changed, you don’t have an identity.”

Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah urged Speaker Bagbin to pursue that agenda so as to save the nation.

Topic for The Day

The SEER also listed some silly things people do in relationships.

1. Failure to change in any relationship
2. Failure to adjust: he said marriage is a journey and if those in that relationship don’t know how to adjust, they can’t make it happen/work.
According to him, in the midst of rough road you need to adjust and in the journey of relationship, as long as it is a journey, you will face some potholes and storms, but you need to adjust and eventually you will get to a smooth road.
3. Not thinking beyond wedding
4. Neglecting good shape and good dressing
