Interim Management Committee (IMC) Lead Administrator of Accra Hearts of Oak, Vincent Sowah Odotei, says he has no interest in contesting for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency at the moment.
Odotei previously contested for the position against former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi but insists he is not considering another bid.
Kurt Okraku’s current tenure as GFA President is expected to end in October 2027, when the next presidential elections are scheduled to take place.
Although no major candidates have officially declared their intention to contest, former Black Stars captains Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan have been mentioned in speculation surrounding the race.
Speaking on JoySports Link, Odotei said his immediate priority was addressing the challenges facing Accra Hearts of Oak, while expressing concern about the state of Ghana football.
“As we sit here today, not really. I believe that now, coming into charge of Accra Hearts of Oak, I’m really, really worried and concerned about the state of the game.
“Knowing who I am, with some of the issues, maybe I’ll communicate them in a different manner compared to when my brother was in charge. But there’s certainly a way that I’ll make my views known so that our friends who are in charge take note, so that we can improve the game.
“In terms of contesting for the FA President, definitely no. But as Margaret Thatcher said, a day in politics is another time.”
The next GFA elective Congress, which will determine the association’s leadership for the next term, is scheduled for October 2027.
