The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has acknowledged the Volta Region as a region with one of the most incomparable tourist sites in Ghana.
He made this known in his address at Adaklu, in the Volta Region of Ghana, during the 66th Independence Anniversary Celebration on March 6, 2023.
He made this point in reference to the tallest mountain, the rich culture and tradition, the beautiful cuisines, the waterfalls, the natural landscapes, and the monuments, among others.
“It is a tourism destination without comparison, and I urge all of you to explore its unique attractions,” he said.
The celebration is one of its kind since Independence of Ghana. It is the first time the people of the Volta Region have held any of these celebrations. The Volta Region is best known for its beautiful tourist sites, waterfalls, unique food, culture, and unbeatable hospitality.
Themed “Our Unity; Our Strength; Our Purpose”, the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, graced the parade as the special guest of honour.
In attendance were most dignitaries, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia; Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, the wife of the president; Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah JCS; Togbe Afede XIV, the paramount chief; and other chiefs from the region who were present to grace the occasion.
School children, market women, and the security service, both military and police, were in their numbers for the march and to make the occasion a success.
