Jordan Ayew

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has praised his teammates for what he describes as a strong and composed start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad has demonstrated its ability to compete at the highest level.

His comments came during a high-level visit by a Ghanaian delegation to the teams camp in Rhode Island on Thursday.

Ghana began their Group L campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Panama before earning a hard-fought 0-0 draw against England, leaving them level on four points after two matches.

Addressing officials, Ayew expressed satisfaction with the teams performances so far, highlighting their discipline and determination.

Weve shown that were capable of performing at the highest level, he said.

The delegation included Ghanas Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and businessman-philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama.

Ghana, aiming to reach the Round of 32 for the first time since 2010, will conclude their group-stage campaign against Croatia on Saturday, June 27, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The team has since relocated from Rhode Island to Philadelphia ahead of the decisive fixture.
