WPL Referees and Assistant Referees Undergo Comprehensive Integrity Training

Call us

Ahead of the start of the 2024/2025 Women’s Premier League season, a comprehensive integrity training session was recently conducted for female referees and assistants, focusing on match fixing, match manipulation, and betting.

The training aimed to provide referees with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and report potential cases of match fixing and manipulation.

Participants were educated on various tactics used by individuals or groups to influence the outcome of matches. Also, participants were informed about the consequences of such activities, on, both for themselves and the local game as a whole.

“We should all be involved in ensuring zero-tolerance for match-fixing and manipulation in the Women’s Premier League,” said Obed Tuffour, Compliance and Integrity Officer of the GFA advised during the training.

“This training is a crucial component of our efforts to prevent and address any potential integrity issues, which poses as a risk to the game.”

The referees were encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or behaviour they encounter during matches or in the lead-up to games and even during games.

They were, also, provided with clear guidelines on how to report such incidents through designated reporting channels and were assured of the utmost confidentiality in their reports.
