Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk has revealed that he no longer believes that Pep Guardiola is under a curse placed on him by African Shamans.
Seluk had previously suggested in 2018 that Guardiola would never win a Champions League trophy again due to this curse, which was allegedly placed on him for mistreating Toure.
However, Seluk has now said that the curse has been removed, and he wants Manchester City to win the ‘treble’ this season, including the Champions League.
“I want to apologise for this matter. I think it is time for this bitterness to stop – and I know that Yaya feels the same because he wishes nothing but success for City. I can say that the spell has now been lifted by the shamans – and that I think City will win the Champions League under Pep,” Seluk said to The Mirror.
“They have a good chance of winning it this year. But whatever happens, they will definitely win it in the next three years. Do you remember when I once criticised City for not giving Yaya a cake on his birthday? Well, it is my birthday this month and my present is for this curse to be ended. In fact, it is my hope that City win the Treble this season.”
Guardiola’s Manchester City side came close to winning their first-ever Champions League title last season, but were beaten by Chelsea in the final. They were also knocked out of the competition the previous year by Real Madrid.
However, this season they are on track to become the first English club since Manchester United in 1999/00 to win the ‘treble’.
Manchester City’s next challenge is a Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday in Madrid.
