Call us

After serving two hip-hop and afrobeats combos, 1UCID is back to show his fans and music lovers a new side of himself. The US-based artist kicks off the year with an inspirational song titled “Greatest,” which features backing vocals from Atlanta-based singer Nikk. Released on February 24, the self-penned song is a love note from 1UCID to his daughter and significant other to strive for greatness.

Through the O Banga-produced tune, 1UCID hopes to energize, inspire, and motivate his fans and people around him to be the best versions of themselves.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, the Afroblues artist said, “As the new year 2023 approached, I reflected on my childhood memories and how far I had progressed. The song occurred to me in a dream where I was cleaning my shoes and clothes in Ghana when I was eight years old and getting ready for the day.”

Giving more details, he said, “I recalled the times I moved to the United States without knowing a single word of English but worked my way up to this level of writing. My sister and I used to speak gibberish to each other while pretending to speak English. Many years later, a college graduate with a Bachelor of Science from The University of Akron, who has worked in corporate America for many years and co-founded successful companies such as Ray Styles Studios, Inc., Heuristic Lifestyles, LLC, and Uvolox, LLC.”

In addition to serving motivation with “Greatest,” 1UCID will introduce music lovers to his contemporary sound, which fuses Afrobeats with urban blues to form what he terms “Afroblues.”

About 1UCID

Kwadwo Bedihene (stylized as 1UCID, pronounced “lucid”) is a Ghanaian singer-songwriter, record producer, and creative based in the United States. He is best known for his single “Miss You,” which reached the top of the iTunes charts in the United States, the Netherlands, Ghana, Nigeria, and France.

1UCID was born in Accra, Ghana, but relocated to the United States of America at the age of nine and earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron, Ohio. Bedihene made his production debut in 2021 with the documentary inspired by Ghanaian theologian Mensa Otabil’s sermon, “A Generational Thinker.” The next year, he made his debut as a musician with the single “Miss You” and followed up with “It’s Giving.” The singer made a name for himself with his distinct Afrobeats and hip-hop fusion and is on a mission to create a new sound he calls “Afroblues.”

His singles got him featured on Pulse Nigeria’s Future Sounds playlist and cited by PM News as one of the artists to look out for. In February 2023, Audiomack named him one of the top trending artists, alongside Asake and Kizz Daniel, as he was one of the most streamed artists during the first week of the month.

“Greatest” is available on all major streaming platforms.
