After years of persistence and creative dedication, the feature film Ego Reach We All (Our Time Will Come),  formerly known as Vagabonds has been officially nominated to premiere at the 79th Locarno Film Festival.  

The film, directed and written by Amartei Armar and produced by Yemoh Ike, represents a landmark achievement for Ghanaian cinema. Shot entirely in Ghana with a local crew and completed in France during post-production, the project embodies a powerful collaboration across continents.  

A Journey Rooted in Recognition

The film’s origins trace back to its short version, released in 2018, which won at the Montreal World Film Festival, an Oscar-qualifying event among other wins. Since then, Ego Reach We All has garnered international acclaim and support:  

– Winner of Cannes Focus CoPro  

– Recipient of the Red Sea Development Fund  

– Honored with the Red Sea Souk Award  

– Backed by the Red Sea Productions Fund  

These milestones positioned the film as one of the most promising African cinematic projects of recent years.  

Global Development Platforms

Beyond festival accolades, the project has been nurtured through prestigious international programs. Writer-director, Amartei Armar was chosen for the Heyazah Screening Lab in Doha, further strengthening the film’s creative vision. Meanwhile Producer Yemoh Ike was selected for the 2023 EAVE Producers Program, advancing the film under the CNC scholarship across Luxembourg, Austria, and the Netherlands. 

Most recently, the project was selected for the 2025 Atlas Workshop in Marrakesh, Morocco, underscoring its resonance within global cinema development circles.
