Kwame Baffoe Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of leading a campaign filled with falsehoods and unfulfilled promises.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Bono Regional Directorate of the NPP and addressed by Abronye in Sunyani, he expressed concerns about Mahama’s credibility and described his track record as a pattern of deceit aimed at misleading voters.
Abronye scrutinized Mahama’s past actions, particularly focusing on promises made during his presidency that were never fulfilled.
He referenced the 2014 State of the Nation Address, where Mahama announced anti-corruption measures, including a directive that government appointees would no longer be permitted to purchase state vehicles or properties after their tenure.
Abronye alleged that Mahama was the first to violate this commitment, undermining his public declarations.
The NPP Regional Chairman further accused Mahama of hypocrisy following his defeat in the 2016 elections.
He claimed that Mahama requested permission from the transition team to acquire state property he had occupied as president, a move that contradicted his earlier anti-corruption stance.
Additionally, Abronye leveled allegations of cronyism against Mahama, stating that he facilitated the sale of state vehicles to close associates, including several prominent individuals within his circle.
According to Abronye, these actions raised significant questions about Mahama’s integrity and contradicted his public commitments.
Abronye called on Ghanaians to critically examine Mahama’s record and promises, arguing that his history of unfulfilled commitments renders him unfit to return to the presidency.
With the December 2024 elections approaching, these allegations are expected to spark further debate over the credibility of Mahama’s campaign and the authenticity of his promises.
