Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has admitted that Thomas Partey is going through a difficult period and has encouraged the midfielder to improve given his importance to the Gunners.
The Ghana international had been playing an instrumental role in midfield, helping Arsenal climb up the Premier League table. However, his performance levels have dropped in recent games, which some have attributed to a possible minor injury.
During Arsenal’s recent victory over Chelsea, Partey was left on the bench as Jorginho started in his place. Partey only came on as a substitute in the 86th minute.
“I think Partey is going through a really difficult period,” the former Crystal Palace coach said before the game.
“The last couple of games he didn’t play at his best and Mikel decided to play Jorginho,” he said to Sky Sports.
The 29-year-old has already made 29 appearances and scored three goals in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal are currently trailing a point behind Manchester City who have an outstanding match to honour. The Gunners’ next assignment is a trip to St. James’ Park to lock horns with 3rd placed Newcastle United on Sunday.
