Bechem United head coach Kasim Mingle said his team’s defeat against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium was caused by a mistake made by their goalkeeper, Dari Aziz Haruna.

Bechem came into the game on the back of a convincing 3-0 victory over Great Olympics, but the Hunters were unable to overcome Kotoko, ultimately losing to a superb goal by Enoch Morrison in the 21st minute.

Mingle expressed his belief that his team could have achieved a better outcome if not for the goalkeeper’s error.

“I’m disappointed. Initially, when we started we were not playing the normal game that we play until we conceded the goal before so I will say it’s unfortunate we conceded that early goal. It was a mistake by the goalkeeper. From where he was [positioned], he shouldn’t have conceded from the near post but it has happened,” he said.

He also admitted that the team missed the services of midfielder Seth Kwadwo Osei, whose skillset could have created opportunities up front.

“Our machine Seth Kwadwo was not in the game. He does the job [creating chances]. Avornyo also complements his efforts from the left flank but they were both not in the team and that affected us a lot,” he added.

The Hunters currently sit fifth in the table with 30 points and will look to rebound with a win when they host Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday.
