Newly Inaugurated Assembly Members For Awma

The newly elected Assembly members in the Agona West Municipality have been told not to allow themselves to be swayed by their political affiliations, but rather burry those political differences and foster unity to ensure the total development of the municipality.

The admonishing was given by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Agona West Municipality, Hon. Evans Addison Onomah Coleman in a welcome address during the inauguration of the 9th Assembly yesterday.

He however commended the immediate past members of the 8th Assembly for their immense commitment and contribution to the development of the municipality, in the areas of heath, education, and agriculture, among others.

The inauguration forms part of a nationwide exercise for 259 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies across the country, except for the two Assemblies in the Nkoransa District whose members are yet to attain the end of their tenure of office.

Meanwhile, the Assembly failed to elect a Presiding Member as two of the candidates who availed themselves for the position failed to secure two-thirds of the total votes cast, as stipulated by the local governance concept

Though Assembly election is meant to be voluntary, sometimes lack of logistics and resources turn to hamper the work of Assembly members.
