Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets has officially signed with Inter Miami, becoming the latest addition to the MLS team alongside Lionel Messi.
Busquets, a nine-time La Liga champion with Barcelona, will occupy a Designated Player slot at Inter Miami.
The reunion between Busquets and Messi comes after the Argentine superstar’s move to Inter Miami following his departure from PSG. The duo previously played together at Barcelona, forming a formidable partnership on the field.
Expressing his excitement about the new opportunity, Busquets said, “I’m very excited to take on this special and exciting opportunity. Joining Inter Miami is a significant step in my career, and I can’t wait to contribute to the success this ambitious club aims for. I was impressed by the club when I visited with Barcelona last year, and now I’m thrilled to represent the team myself.”
Busquets’ departure from Barcelona marked the end of an impressive 18-year tenure at the club.
