Dreams FC travel to Mali with determination to secure positive result

Dreams FC have travelled to Mali with a clear objective of avoiding defeat in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final clash against Stade Malien.

The team departed Ghana on Friday morning, with coach Karim Zito emphasizing their intention to secure a positive outcome, be it a win or a draw.

They are expected to arrive in Bamako later in the day ahead of Sunday’s match.

“We are going there with two objectives. Firstly, we are going in to win, and if not, the best result is to come back home with a draw. So these are the strategies we are going to map out and implement,” Zito stated.

“I used similar tactics against Medeama when I played them last Sunday and it worked for us. So we are going there at least to secure a point or three. Ultimately, our expectation is to qualify for the semifinals and nothing less.”

The contingent includes 23 players, among them Ghana U-20 star Abdul Aziz Issah and John Antwi, both of whom have contributed significantly with four goals each for Dreams FC in this season’s competition.

Dreams FC aim to continue their impressive run and make Ghana proud in their debut season, having topped their group and reached the knockout stage, achieving a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by a Ghanaian club since 2004.

The second leg will be played in Kumasi next week Sunday.
