Drivers Union demand practical measures to control prices of petroleum products

The International Drivers and Road Transport Union of Trades Union Congress (TUC), has extended warm congratulations to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his resounding victory in Ghana’s presidential election.

At a press conference, General Secretary of the Union, Anane Frimpong lauded Mahama’s commitment to the welfare of commercial drivers and the entire country.

He commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) policies outlined in the party’s manifesto and dedication to addressing the pressing issues facing the transport sector.

Highlighting the challenges ahead, Anane Frimpong urged the President-Elect to focus on stabilizing the exchange rate and the prices of petroleum products.

He underscored the need for the next NDC government to prioritize the welfare of transport operators to enhance the growth of the sector.

He reaffirmed the Union’s support for Mahama’s leadership and called for continued efforts to help promote the transport sector.

Mr. Anane was quick to condemn the post-election attacks on government offices and the fact that alleged irate NDC youth destroying district offices of the Electoral Commission.

He urged the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators.
