The Football4Girls train stormed the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st October as part of the introduction of the program across all regions.
The program under the theme Implementation of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy: Education to dispel the misconception on Girls/Females playing Football brought together Eighteen (18) Schools from the Bolgatanga Municipality, Waiga and Sandema from the Builsa North District.
The GFA team, led by Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Salifu Zida and Vice, Abagna Joseph Nelson, Women’s Football Development Manager, Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong and the Upper East Women’s Committee chairperson, Anyaana Clemencia also visited the Upper East Regional Physical Education Coordinator, Franklin Erastus Towoni, Sandema Municipal Director, of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Madame Victoria A. Mahama, Municipal Physical Education Coordinator, Mrs. Abubakar Malik to hold discussions on the Women’s Football Strategy and the positive impact of the Football4Girls project since it was officially launched.
Participating schools were engaged in fun-filled football related activities including playing football games as Physical Education teachers were also lectured on the key pillars of the Women’s Football Strategy and its implementation.
The GFA gave out Footballs to the participating schools to be used during their Physical Educations sessions and T-Shirts were also given out to the kids, teachers and parents as part of creating awareness on the project.

Grassroots Football and Education Pillar forms part of the key developmental pathway of the Women’s Football Strategy and its targeted at unearthing young talented girls in Basic schools who are between 6 and 12yrs and developing them for the future.
