Funeral Plans For Veteran Gospel Artist Rev. George Owusu-Mensah Announced

The Ghanaian gospel music community is preparing to bid a heartfelt farewell to Rev. George Owusu-Mensah, a beloved singer, pastor, and father of renowned musician Kofi Owusu Peprah. Rev. Owusu-Mensah, who passed away on November 10, 2024, at the age of 64, left behind an enduring legacy of faith and gospel music. Funeral arrangements have been announced to honor his remarkable life and contributions.

On February 6, 2025, a night of tributes and worship will be held at the Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi. Rev. Owusu-Mensah will then be laid in state on February 8 at the Grace Baptist Church in Amakom, Kumasi, followed by a burial service. Afterward, the final funeral rites will take place at the KNUST swimming pool side. To conclude the celebrations of his life, a thanksgiving service will be held on February 9 at the Grace Baptist Church.

Rev. George Owusu-Mensah was known for his soul-lifting songs like “Matwen Awurade Anim” and “Wo Nkutoo Na Wosɛ Ayeyi,” which cemented his place as a pillar of Ghanaian gospel music. At 64, he leaves behind an enduring legacy of faith, music, and ministry that will continue to inspire generations.
