Ghana forward Ernest Nuamah passes Lyon medical ahead of €30m move

Young talent Ernest Nuamah is on the brink of sealing a transfer to French club Lyon after successfully passing his medical tests.

The 19-year-old is expected to be officially unveiled as a new player for the French Ligue 1 outfit in a club record transfer fee of €30m with add-ons included overtaking Jeff Reine-Adélaïde who joined from Angers in 2019 for a fee of €25m.

The transfer will also make Nuamah, the most expensive player to depart FC Norsdaelland breaking his compatriot Kamaldeen Sulemana’s record.

Nuamah will sign a five-year deal with the club as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano as the player takes a step forward in his promising career.

Nuamah has been exceptional for FC Nordsjaelland garnering interest from several top clubs including Paris Saint-German, Reims, Ajax Amsterdam, Tottenham Hotspurs and Burnley among others.

However, he follows in the footstep of former Ghana international  Michael Essien who enjoyed a fruitful career with the seven-time French champions.

Nuamah had a remarkable season with FC Nordsjaelland last season scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in the Danish top-flight while winning a number of accolades including the Danish Superliga Player of the Year by the league’s jury, Spring Best Player by the Superliga head coaches and Player of the Year by the Superliga players.

He was also named in the top 100 youngsters to battle for the 2023 Golden Boy  Award.

The skillful youngster has also contributed massively on the international front starring for the Ghana U-23 side in both the qualifiers and the main 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition.

He is also expected to maintain his spot in the Black Stars having made his debut in their game against Madagascar in June during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
