A young Ghanaian woman has returned to Accra after spending four years in Kurdistan, describing her experience abroad as challenging and far from what she had anticipated.
In a video shared by SVTV Africa, the woman is seen arriving at the Kotoka International Airport appearing emotional but visibly relieved to be back home.
Speaking briefly upon her arrival, she expressed gratitude for making it back safely. “I’m grateful to be back home. Things didn’t go the way I planned,” she said.
According to her, the decision to travel in search of better opportunities turned into a difficult journey marked by financial hardship.
She revealed that she accumulated debt during her stay, which eventually led to her passport being withheld.
She noted that despite spending four years abroad, she was unable to achieve the goals that motivated her to leave Ghana.
The woman credited media personality DJ Nyaami for playing a key role in facilitating her return after she reached out for help.
DJ Nyaami also disclosed that an unnamed benefactor stepped in to support her reintegration, providing funds for medical check-ups and to help her start a small business.
Reflecting on her experience, she advised young people considering travelling abroad for work to carefully assess the realities before making such decisions.
Her story adds to growing conversations about the risks associated with seeking opportunities overseas without adequate preparation or reliable support systems.
