Now amassing a catalogue of over 1 million streams till date and shows in both home countries Ghana and the UK, ginius is back with a new song alongside long-time producer and collaborator, Joker Nharnah called “Test Drive”. Following the success of their previous single “Consistency”, the producer and talent who gave us the hit songs “Kwaku the Traveller”, “Soja” and “Zero” shares the production stage with ginius in an effortless 2.52 minutes Afro R&B track. Test drive is the ultimate lover girl anthem as it’s written with the man’s perspective in mind. The song starts with a sultry guitar riff which sets the tone for the theme of the song. With both R&B and Afro-Dancehall elements, the song simply summarises a lover’s inner thoughts becoming a reality; the moment you go from someone who was once a nobody in their life to someone who is now everything to them. It’s no longer butterflies it’s an everyday feeling. As the song lyrics depicts “talking stage done so be mine” – one of the greatest feelings two people in love can share.
This is contrast to “Come”, the self-produced track which depicts the stage of dating where you mourning the old whiles trying to embrace the new. One may describe the song as the phase where you go and call on your creator (God) simply because one’s feelings have been hurt. The soft electric piano driven Afro R&B ensemble narrates the ordeals of a heartbreak where one may even give up on love but then just like that a new spark is found. A new “aura clear like the clear blue sea” as the lyric goes. However, sometimes on the path to find love something happens along the line which makes you think did we jump the gun too quickly; either way you don’t mind giving it another go.
These two songs follow ginius’ previous release Different & Not My Concern which all forms part of an upcoming project expected to tell a tale of a lover girl’s highs and lows on the journey of love
