DJ Azonto, popularly known as Mark Kwesi Arthur, has alleged that Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale lied about being paid £80,000 to perform at the Ghana Music Awards UK.
Speaking on Property FM in Cape Coast, DJ Azonto said that he believes Shatta Wale was actually paid £200,000 for the performance.
He pointed to the lavish treatment that Shatta Wale received, including luxury hotel accommodations and gifts from the event organizer, Alordia.
“Shatta Wale is lying because he took more than the amount he announced,” DJ Azonto said. “Alordia bought me ladies’ heels worth £15,000, so with the iPhone and others he bought for Shatta, I think Alordia paid him like £200,000.”
DJ Azonto’s claims have sparked controversy, with some people believing him and others defending Shatta Wale. The two artists have been engaged in a feud for some time now, so it is possible that DJ Azonto’s allegations are motivated by personal animosity.
However, it is also worth noting that DJ Azonto is not the only one who has questioned Shatta Wale’s claims about the £80,000 payment.
Renowned media personality Akwasi Aboagye has also expressed scepticism, saying he does not believe Shatta Wale was paid that much money.
