Guinness Ghana is raising the stakes at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards with the introduction of a new GHC100,000 prize for the winner of the Album/EP of the Year category.
The package, which debuts at the 27th edition of the awards, also includes support for a music video and a curated album listening experience for the winner’s next project.
In a statement issued by Charterhouse, organisers of the annual awards scheme, the move was described as part of Guinness Ghana’s broader effort to support Ghanaian artistes beyond awards night and contribute to the growth of the country’s music industry.
Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, described the category as the “pinnacle of artistic expression,” noting that it represents an artiste’s full body of work, storytelling, and sound.
“This package is Guinness Ghana’s way of recognizing excellence and investing in the future of the artist and the industry at large,” she said.
Also reacting to the initiative, Robert Klah of Charterhouse said the intervention is a timely boost that reinforces the importance of albums and EPs as lasting creative projects.
Nominees in the category include Black Sherif (Iron Boy), Stonebwoy (Torcher), Gyakie (After Midnight), Medikal(Disturbation II), Wendy Shay (Ready), and Kweku Smoke (Walk With Me).
The announcement comes as anticipation builds towards the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards which is brought to you by Telecel, produced by Charterhouse, with media partnership from TV3 and proudly refreshed by Guinness.
