Popular Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has opened up about the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Idemudia revealed that she was subjected to physical and emotional abuse during her marriage.
Idemudia said that she was married at the young age of 22 and that her husband was very controlling. He would often tell her that she was not his friend, but his “lord.”
He would also physically abuse her, sometimes tying her up and putting her head in a bowl of water to force her to confess to cheating.
The abuse took a toll on Idemudia’s physical and mental health. She developed an ulcer and had to be hospitalized for treatment. She also became depressed and suicidal.
Idemudia eventually decided to leave her husband. She said that she knew she had to get out of the relationship for her own safety.
