Ghanaian musician and creative director, Epixode, has confidently declared himself among the top performers in the country, pointing to years of consistent stage excellence and artistic growth as proof.

Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Kafui Dey, Epixode made it clear that his confidence is not just talk, but is backed by real experience and strong stage performances.

“I’m proud that I’m one of the best performers in Ghana. It’s not because l’ve said it but because l’ve seen what l’ve done with my performance over the years,” he said.

According to the artiste, his strength on stage is deeply rooted in his background in the arts, which has shaped how he conceptualises and executes his performances. Rather than simply performing songs, Epixode explained that he curates a full experience for his audience one that blends multiple sounds and visual elements.

“My arts background also helped shape whatever concept I want to perform. When you come to Epixode’s concert, definitely, you will have a bit of Sikyi Highlife, you are getting a bit of Wolome, ragga, and then again a bit of Afrobeats and arts. It’s not just listening to the music; you will see things,” he stated.

He further emphasised that every detail of his performance is intentional, including his costumes, which he considers an essential part of the storytelling.

“Even the costume alone is another experience. I’m a whole record label,” he added.

Epixode also reflected on how his journey into the arts began at a young age, sparked by a seemingly ordinary moment during his school days that would later shape his creative path.

“When I was young, my mother was always on tour, so my aunt used to take me to school. One day, when my aunt took me to class, I met a guy who actually cartooned anything. He taught me how to draw and that’s where my arts started from,” he recounted.

Despite not coming from an artistic family, he said his curiosity and passion pushed him to pursue the field further, eventually influencing his music career.

“I don’t know anyone in my family who draws, but I had to follow up from there. Then I decided to do arts in school,” he disclosed.

For Epixode, music and visual art are inseparable, each feeding into the other to create a distinct creative identity.

“With the arts, I think it’s just me trying to be curious about something and I want to create it. I have some of my music inspired by art. You can’t take art out of the music neither can you take music out of the art,” he added.
