The Chairman of Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi says the anti-LGBTQ+ bill when passed into law will be difficult to implement.

According to him, though the Bill is primarily to check homosexual practices and get rid of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex relationships among others that may crop up with time; it will take a lot for the law to punish these categories of people.

He explained to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show Tuesday morning that before one can be prosecuted for contravening the anti-LGBTQ+ law, there should be concrete evidence pointing out that indeed two men or women were having sexual intercourse or have been caught red-handed.

He added that unless maybe the framers of th law “order everybody to leave his or her room open”, it will be a great challenge to prosecute the members of the LGBTQ+ community.

“We have done the bill and still doing it but when it is done, its implementation will be difficult because if you will remember, Dr. Afari Gyan once said the name of the game is evidence. So, before one can be prosecuted when this thing is not usually done publicly but in a room, before someone will come out to say we are two men or women and have had sex, unless a fight breaks out between them,” he stated.

However, he emphasized the Bill is significantly purposed to sanitize the society by making sure no person promotes homosexuality nor publicly display homosexual behaviors.

” . . for someone to promote or propagate it or display his or her homosexual tendencies publicly, I believe the bill will help to reduce it but implementation of the law will be difficult,” the Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim Central stressed.
