Nazareth Opoku Agyeman, formerly known as Kojo Denkyem, recently shared his inspiring journey from hiplife rapper to gospel musician in an interview with ZionFelix.

Now going by Call Me Nazareth, he opened up about the challenges he faced and the life-changing experiences that led to his transformation.

Nazareth started his music career in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region, where he struggled to gain recognition. He saw artists like Sarkodie and D Cryme rise to fame while he remained unnoticed.

“I began with rap because we thought it was the best way to succeed. I recorded demos at Rex Studios, hoping for a breakthrough,” he recalled.

As his frustration grew, Nazareth and a close friend sought help from a fetish priest, hoping to find success. Unfortunately, he was unaware that his friend had secretly conspired with the priest to use him as a ritual sacrifice.

“We planned to release a joint album before going our separate ways,” Nazareth explained. “The priest advised us to perform a blood covenant ritual, but my friend had other plans. He would achieve success while I was sacrificed.”

Following the ritual, Nazareth suffered from spiritual attacks and severe nightmares, which led to him running mad . For nearly two years, he experienced periods of clarity mixed with confusion and erratic behavior.

It wasn’t until 2009 that Nazareth found healing through a man of God named Oluman. After recovering, he discovered the full extent of his friend’s betrayal.

Embracing Christianity and changing his name to Call Me Nazareth, he dedicated his life to gospel music. His story now stands as a testament to faith, healing, and redemption.
